Gender Integration and Resource Coordinator at Climate Justice Resilience Fund (CJRF), India

Ritu Gupta is a climate justice advocate and feminist practitioner based in Kolkata, India, on the frontlines of the Bay of Bengal. She currently works as the Gender Integration and Resource Coordinator at the Climate Justice Resilience Fund (CJRF), where she supports grassroots, women-led, and Indigenous organizations in the Bay of Bengal, East Africa, and the Pacific Islands to address the gendered and cultural impacts of climate change, particularly non-economic loss and damage (NELD). Her work focuses on addressing the often overlooked impacts of climate change—such as displacement, loss of culture, and the burden on care systems—while supporting community-led solutions and stronger access to funding. Ritu brings participatory and grounded approaches to her work, shaped by lived experience and close collaboration with frontline partners.

Over the past 15 years, Ritu has worked on regional and international projects supported by funders such as the Scottish Government, Oak Foundation, and IDRC Canada. Her experience spans program coordination, learning and reflection processes, gender audits, and partner accompaniment. With an MA in Gender and Development from the Institute of Development Studies (University of Sussex), she brings a strong focus on capacity bridging, community learning, and feminist values. Ritu also served as the first woman of colour co-president of the Society of Gender Professionals, helping to build a global network committed to more inclusive and just ways of working in development and research spaces.
